Catching up ... how does time fly?
I can’t understand how it’s almost been a year, but reflecting back it was definitely a full one. Fall came, winter hunkered in, we walked in the snow, ate delicious food and I knit, sewed stitched and wove. February came and we were talking of a cross Canada road trip.
Then the Great Pause of 2020 arrived. Everyone has talked about this in hundreds of ways: Mother Earth has sent us to our room for time out, the universe is giving us a massive correction, the higher source is offering us an opportunity to stay still, listen closely and reconsider. I know from my conversations and self reflections that this - while devastating throughout the world- has guided me to a return to what I like to think of as my better self. Hopefully a kinder self not only to others but to me. I can be so self critical and it’s a relief to lighten up on myself! Who knew.
So projects that have been completed have been drawing from my stash, finishing works in progress and starting on ideas that have been percolating for a while.
Cotton tea towels woven on my sweet Baby Wolf Schact loom. - I bleached cotton, hemp and coloured cotton.
Then there were the two placemats woven from a linen warp that I dyed at studio week in 2014 . Lovely ikat warp with a Scottish linen weft. There was only enough warp for two so they are just for ‘us’.
I now am midway through warping up a hand dyed tencel for two scarves, one with a cashmere weft and one with a contrasting tencel. Then I took on a scarf using stash yarn but then had to add another ball. Beautiful merino silk blend, hand dyed which I bought at a spinning retreat from http://www.thetwistedpurlyarnstudio.com/. I used the European road trip shawl pattern a free download on Ravelry by Espace Tricot
Just realized I seem to be working in pinks and blues! I did do a beautiful batch of cotolin tea towels which had awesome an range of rainbow colours. Will have to take a picture of them as I haven’t yet.
And the garden? It is gorgeous.
There is more, but enough for now. Can’t wait to tackle my next project currently sitting in the dye pot!
